The firm

Clarity, integrity and maritime precision.

Since 1990, Ataol Yachting has handled every official process for private and commercial yachts, registration, customs, transit log, insurance and VAT exemption, from the dossier desk to the marina.

We operate under a policy of openness and honesty, delivering high-quality service at fair rates. Our headquarters are in Beşiktaş, Istanbul, but we serve every Turkish port.

Registration, bağlama kütüğü, transit log, VAT-exempt foreign sale, flag change and insurance are not separate files for us — they are parts of the same voyage. From Istanbul, Bodrum, Marmaris, Göcek, Antalya and Çeşme to every other Turkish marina, we run procedures on site and present the owner with a single point of contact and a single timeline.

From the first survey to the final flag change, we stand alongside owners at every stage, not for a single document, but for the entire voyage.

Process

From the first call to handover in four steps.

Whatever the file, the method is the same: we talk first, then map the documents; one advisor runs the file throughout, and every certificate is confirmed in writing at handover.

    Initial call

Needs assessment based on your flag, intended use and existing documents. Phone, WhatsApp or in person.

  2. 02

    Scope & quote

Full document list, statutory timelines and transparent pricing in one file. No surprise items.

  3. 03

    Execution

Harbour master, customs, tax office and insurer coordination from a single point; weekly progress update.

  4. 04

    Handover & file

Originals, digital copies and the next renewal calendar handed over to the owner in writing.

Frequently asked

Clear answers on the process.

Under a transit log, private foreign-flagged yachts may stay in Turkish waters for up to 2 years in a single period; extensions and renewals are possible. We handle the file from opening to closing.
Sales to buyers residing abroad, or holding non-Turkish citizenship, may fall under VAT exemption. Contract, customs clearance, flag change and tax notifications are coordinated in a single dossier.
Tonnage certificate, seaworthiness report, ship registry certificate, radio licence and annual visa are the principal documents. Depending on the vessel type (private/commercial), additional papers may apply; we share a full checklist at first contact.
Through our insurance partnerships, a quote can be issued the same day; following survey, the policy can start within 24–48 hours.
Yes. Although our headquarters are in Istanbul, we deliver in-person service at Bodrum, Marmaris, Göcek, Antalya, Çeşme and every other Turkish port.
The bağlama kütüğü is a port-authority registration system introduced for Turkish-flag private yachts under Law No. 5897 in 2009. Above a certain size it is mandatory for private vessels; a licence is issued and an annual fee applies. We handle initial application, licence issuance and annual renewals.
To move from a foreign to a Turkish flag, the owner must be a Turkish citizen or a Türkiye-registered company. The process covers deregistration from the previous flag, customs (temporary or full importation), ship registry enrolment and bağlama kütüğü registration. VAT and SCT implications should be assessed before any step is taken.
Commercial chartering of a Turkish-flag yacht requires a Yacht Operator Certificate from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, entry in the commercial registry and compliance with Cabotage Law No. 815. Commercial chartering with foreign-flag yachts in Turkish inland waters is, as a rule, prohibited. We coordinate certification, contracting and operations end-to-end.
An expired transit log that is not extended can lead to administrative fines and the yacht being placed under customs supervision. Extension or renewal should be filed before expiry. Our active monitoring and reminder service prevents such delays.
Hull & Machinery covers physical damage to the vessel itself — hull, engines and equipment. P&I (Protection & Indemnity) covers liabilities such as third-party damage, crew claims, pollution and salvage costs. Commercial yachts typically require both; for private yachts the scope is set together with the owner.
Tonnage certificate, seaworthiness report, ship registry or bağlama kütüğü record, radio licence and valid insurance policies are the principal checks. For foreign-flag vessels, also review current transit log status, VAT status and prior flag deregistration papers. Pre-purchase document review is available on request.
